IT USER SKILLS - LEVEL 1

This is a great vocational ICT qualification which offers a wide range of coursework units that can meet the needs of many different learners.

We have selected a range of units that are engaging for the pupils but also cover important curriculum areas. The coursework is handed in on the TLM website to class teachers so that it can be marked and feedback given. Evidence of progression and response to teacher feedback is recorded on the TLM website.

The Level 1 IT qualification consists of a mandatory unit and an overall requirement of 13 credits in total. This is designed so that schools and colleges can pick the unit combinations that most suit their local employment characteristics and the interests and skills of themselves and usage. There are over 30 optional units to choose from. SPECIFICATION:

The qualification at Level 1 has two assessment components both of which cover the full content of the qualifications.

  1. Coursework assessed in terms of competence in practical areas where knowledge and understanding can be applied in real and motivating contexts.
  2. An externally set and externally marked examination to assess knowledge and understanding that underpins user competence.

The Level 1 qualification requires 16 credits from 5 generic units that can be applied to a wider range of applications. It has grading across 4 levels from Pass to Pass with Distinction* the highest grade equating to 80%+ of the available marks and a pass equating to a minimum of 50%.

The qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for IT Users developed by the Sector Skills Council for IT and Business together with employers and IT subject specialists
